Is RIATest an open source product?
RIATest is a closed source commercial product. There are no plans to open source RIATest.
Do I have to buy a LiveCycle Data Services license from Adobe to use RIATest?
No. Adobe Flex 3 Professional Edition includes automation libraries. No additional licenses are required.
I get a "License not present. With trial version only limited replays are allowed" message.
The message that you see is not coming from RIATest.
You get this message because your application is compiled using the Trial version or Standard Edition of Flex/Flash Builder. You will need to compile the application using Flex Builder 3 Professional Edition or Flash Builder 4 Premium Edition.
This is not our limitation, it comes from Adobe.
Does the serial number expire? Will I need to renew at anytime?
If you have purchased a RIATest license your serial numbers will never expire. If you have been given a temporary license for demonstration or other purposes it will expire at the set date.
Once I purchase a license, do I get all the future updates or subsequent releases for free?
Our upgrade policy is that minor version upgrades and hot fixes are free. For example if you buy version 3.0 then version 3.1 will be free however version 4.0 will not.
Do you have any provision for a floating license?
Yes, please read more about licensing.
Can you please let us know the pricing and the licensing model for the tool?
RIATest is supplied in one of three editions: Professional, Standard, Runner under two license types: Named user and Floating user. Please read more about licensing and see edition feature matrix for prices.
What kind of support do you provide?
We provide technical support via email. This includes answers to bug postings, feature requests, suggesting workarounds to RIATest limitations, etc. Technical support can be purchased optionally; usually this is done by annual contract, however one-off requests may be made using the Consultative support service.
Consultative support is paid hourly for issues which require significant time investment such as helping in automation of custom components or reviewing test scripts and advising of changes, etc. See more details here.
What if my support contract expires?
An expired Standard technical support contract can be resumed any time by paying for the period from the time it has expired. Please note that support contract renewal is optional. If you do not have a current support contract you are not eligible for technical support provided by our helpdesk staff.
We have 5 licenses. Can we buy support for 1 license only?
No, it is not possible to buy support for only some of your licenses. Support is sold per company not per user. If your company has 5 RIATest licenses you can only buy 5 support contracts.
If you do not anticipate that you will need lots of support and do not want to pay for the full annual support amount, it may be more cost effective to use consultative support instead of standard support.
What is the $175/hour support option?
Consultative support gives access to our engineering resources, for example when you need help with automating a custom component, writing test scripts, etc.
Should I buy Named or Floating licenses?
A description of Named and Floating licenses is given here and the prices are given here.
Consider purchasing Floating licenses if:
a) Your usage concurrency ration is below 1:2. e.g. if you have 4 RIATest users and normally only 1 or 2 users will be actually using it at any one time.
b) You wish to avoid the time overhead of managing individual named license keys.
c) You want multi-platform operation (i.e. you want to use RIATest on both Windows and Mac OS). Named licenses are platform specific.
